From April 2015, nurseries, schools, childminders and other childcare providers have been able to claim extra funding through the Early Years Pupil Premium to support children’s development, learning and care.
We received £4800 last year for our children who triggered Early Year’s Pupil Premium, 16 children. We can use the extra funding in any way we choose to improve the quality of the early year’s education that we provide for your child. Our focus for spending has been:
- Quality improvement including CPD – Staff attending courses including Speech and language courses, Raising Early Achievement in Literacy (REAL), Attachment, and Team teach (safer handling of children).
- Early Language development – screening pupils with Speech and Language toolkit, group support whilst on waiting lists.
- Widening life experiences for the children – cooking, forest schools, visits to settings i.e. farm.
- Parental Partnership – Dino school, maths games, Raising Early Achievement in Literacy (REAL project), Raising Early Achievement in Maths (REAM).
As our numbers change term by term then so does the funding. This will change continuously and so the end of year report will give a more accurate picture of the investment made and the impact as a result.
The evaluation focuses on the progress on a termly basis through pupil progress meetings between the key workers and Early Years lead teacher as well as more in-depth analysis at the end of the child’s Nursery year. This follows whether the child has made progress and whether they are achieving at a point that is typical better for their age. We also evaluate how the interventions have impacted on the child’s well-being and involvement.
